Born from a spirit of solidarity and action, Al Mazeed is a Lebanese non-governmental organization officially established in 2022, after years of grassroots initiatives led by students and staff of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ).
Al Mazeed, inspired by the Latin word Magis, meaning “more”, reflects our commitment to going further: more love, more action, and more hope for the people we serve.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to uplift marginalized communities, empower the youth, and care for the elderly who bravely face Lebanon’s economic and political hardships.
Guided by Ignatian values, we believe that true education is not complete without action, by standing alongside those in need and building bridges of solidarity.
What began during the 2019 economic collapse with the “Ketfe Bi Ketfak” initiative, aimed at supporting 150 families and rapidly expanding to thousands, grew into USJ en Mission and, eventually, into Al Mazeed, a dynamic platform for civic engagement and social transformation.

With People at the Heart and the Future in Our Hands

Today, Al Mazeed’s work focuses on three pillars:

• Caring for the whole person, or Cura Personalis, through programs like mental health support for youth in Lebanon and Syria, expressive arts therapy, assistance for the elderly, and food aid for healthcare workers at USJ’s Medical Center and Hospital, Hôtel-Dieu de France.

• Engaging youth as leaders, empowering them to design sustainable, community-based projects that create lasting change.

• Caring for our common home, through initiatives such as the Jbeil Ecomuseum, which was launched with the support of Al Mazeed and has now grown into a thriving entity serving the local community and all of Lebanon, ecological awareness programs, and projects that foster environmental stewardship and sustainability.

At Al Mazeed, we believe in action and collaboration, bringing together students, professionals, and communities to respond to challenges with innovative, lasting solutions. In the face of uncertainty, we remain committed to creating a future where solidarity and hope shine brighter.
