Ketfe bi Ketfak (March 2020 – June 2020)
In the very first days of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, when thousands of Lebanese families suddenly found themselves without jobs or income, a group of committed students from the Secular Club of Saint Joseph University (USJ) decided to act. They launched Ketfe Bi Ketfak – an initiative whose very name means “shoulder to shoulder” – to stand in solidarity with those most affected by the crisis.
Through this project, the students organized a large-scale food box campaign to provide essential supplies to vulnerable households struggling to survive the abrupt economic shutdown. Their dedication and sense of responsibility quickly mobilized resources and volunteers from across the university community.
By the time the project concluded in June 2020, Ketfe Bi Ketfak had achieved remarkable results:
-
1,256 food boxes distributed to families in need
-
15,700 USD raised to sustain the effort
-
80 volunteers engaged in packing, distribution, and logistics
More than a relief effort, Ketfe Bi Ketfak became a testimony of solidarity, youth leadership, and civic responsibility during one of the country’s most difficult moments.
Following its success, the initiative evolved into USJ en Mission, ensuring that the spirit of commitment to social justice and community support continues to inspire and shape new projects for the years ahead.
